The Book About You

Did you know that there is a literal book in heaven written about you?  I'm not joking!

I will give thanks to You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Wonderful are Your works and my soul knows it very well.

My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in secret, and

skillfully wrought in the depths of the earth.

Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;

And in Your book were all written the days that were ordained for me,

when as yet there was not one of them.

How precious are Your thoughts to me, O God!

Psalm 139: 14-16

In the prophet Daniel's vision, the 'Ancient of Days' took His seat, 'the court sat and the books were opened.'  (Daniel 7:9-10)

Amazing as it may sound, the truth is that God has an enormous library in heaven.  In it are books for every person ever born.  They contain God's plan and purpose for your life and we know they're good because the LORD spoke through Jeremiah, 'I know the plans I have for you, plans for good things and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.'  (Jer. 29:11)

Your destiny and purpose were created in the eternal mind of God before the world was even created.  Isn't that amazing! His love reached out to you when you were just a thought in His heart.

We might be tempted to think, 'How will I know what the Lord's purpose is for me?'  It's not as difficult as you might think.

There is a 'general' destiny, if I can say it that way, applicable to all who follow Christ.  We are called to be transformed, conformed into His image; to become so like Him that our thoughts, words and actions reflect Him.  As has been said, you may be the only Bible some people read.  By your life, you can "preach" Jesus without saying a word.  In fact, Francis of Assisi is reported to have said, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel; use words only if necessary."

Your particular and personal destiny is not mysterious either.  What are your gifts? Your talents? What are you passionate about? What do you love to do? These are some of the questions to ask yourself when determining what the Lord sent you to earth for.

When we stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ, I believe that His concerns will not so much be about this or that event or action in our life but rather, how closely did we live to the plan and purpose the Father had for us when He created us. How closely did we fulfill our own personal book?

The choice is ours.  Do we seek to fulfill what is written in our book in the heavens? Or do we write our own book?

The Father's plan will always be better than ours.  Let us seek to know His purpose for us and the destiny He has prepared for us.  Therein is fullness of joy.

As many of you know, my husband suffered a massive heart attack in March and therefore the past four months have been an intense time of recovery and much of my time and attention has been given to his care.  Praise the Lord he is stable at present and my schedule has eased up a bit.

I apologize for the lack of postings during these past weeks.  By God's grace, they will become more regular from now on.

God bless you all and thank you for being our friends.
