God's Most Expensive Purchase

Have you forgotten that your body is now the sacred temple of the Spirit of Holiness, who lives in you? You don't belong to yourself any longer, for the gift of God, the Holy Spirit, lives inside your sanctuary. You were God's expensive purchase, paid for with tears of blood, so by all means, then, use your body to bring glory to God. I Cor. 6: 19-20 The Passion Translation

Don't you love the Passion Translation? The more I read it, the better I like it for inspiration and meditation.

The passage above was in my morning devotional today. What a beautiful way to describe the priceless gift of the death and resurrection of Jesus for you and for me. 'You were God's expensive purchase.'

Expensive indeed! The Father of Glory, the Lord of all Creation, gave His only begotten Son that you and I might be freed from the grip of Adam's fall and by a renewed life, look forward to an eternity in His presence. Amazing grace!

In the West, many of us have heard the Gospel so often that there is a danger we become dulled to its power and its truth. We cannot afford to do so.

Jesus voluntarily laid down His life in the most torturous and horrific way, shedding every drop of His precious blood that all mankind - that means you and that means me - might be provided with a door into eternity.

He IS the door! He IS the Way, the Truth and the Life!

Simple truths but truths that must be upheld without apology or hesitation in these days when all manner of strange doctrines and false teachings are infiltrating the church.

Say it loudly and say it clearly: Jesus is the ONLY WAY to the Father.

We are God's most expensive purchase, paid for with the Blood of Jesus. We are not our own; therefore we do not have the right to live to please ourselves, but to please Him.

Perhaps the best thing to say to the Lord every morning is: 'Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.' I Sam. 3:10
